FRIENDSHIP, WI (WSAU) - The Adams man who admits fatally shooting his girlfriend is being held on a quarter of a million dollar cash bond. 28-year-old Coleman E. Dybul appeared before the judge Monday. He was arrested on suspicion of first degree reckless homicide. The Adams County District Attorney had not filed charges as of late Monday.
Dybul called the Sheriff’s Department, and told them 27-year-old Toni Voss of Adams startled him while he was sleeping and he shot her with a shotgun he kept next to his bed. The shooting happened at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday.
Sheriff Sam Wollin says many people keep a firearm in their bedroom, and he has no reason to believe the shooting took place differently than how Dybul described it.
State Patrol officials and the State Crime Lab are assisting with the investigation.
The funeral for Toni Voss is Tuesday. Both families asked the judge to consider allowing Dybul to attend the services.
