MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — It’s been a season of small victories for the Milwaukee Brewers, but this series win was anything but small. The Milwaukee Brewers got the best of the Chicago Cubs, two games to one, with a 2-1 win Wednesday night.
Jonathan Villar was the only scorer for the Brew Crew, hitting solo home runs in both the fourth and eighth innings. The Cubs nearly had a home run of their own to tie in the ninth, but rookie Keon Broxton denied Anthony Rizzo with a leaping catch above the wall to save the game and the series.
The future has been looking bright for the Brewers, as both Broxton and fellow rookie Orlando Arcia have been turning in promising performances in the later months of this season. Milwaukee will look for another upset as they travel to St. Louis for a series with the Cardinals beginning Thursday. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on the Brewers Radio Network.
