The Milwaukee Brewers saved their best for last in beating the Houston Astros 3-1 at Minute Maid Park Wednesday night. The home team pushed across a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly against starter Kyle Lohse. The game stayed 1-0 because Houston starter Erik Bedard limited the Brewers to three hits through the first seven innings. But after giving up a one out single in the 8th, Bedard was lifted for Hector Ambriz who was immediately greeted by Rickie Weeks with a go ahead, two run homer. Aramis Ramirez added a solo shot in the 9th to make a winner of John Axford in relief. He struck out two in the bottom of the seventh. Francisco Rodriguez gave up a couple of hits in the 9th but worked out of the jam to earn his fifth save since rejoining the team. The Brewers (29-41) will send Yovani Gallardo to the hill in the rubber game of the series Thursday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 6;35 PM on WTAQ.
Norichika Aoki left the team before Wednesday's game, placed on paternity leave. His wife is expecting back in Milwaukee. The Brewers return home after Thursday night's game to open a homestand against the Atlanta Braves Friday night.
