Green Lake County authorities provide description of alleged cop impersonator

GREEN LAKE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities in Green Lake County are releasing more details about the man suspected of impersonating a police officer Wednesday night.

The alleged imposter made a traffic stop just west of Berlin. According to the driver, the man wrote a warning, then followed him all the way to Oshkosh before turning around.

Officers say the suspected impostor was a white male, but the driver wasn't sure how old he was. He was between 5'9" and 6-feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds with an average build. He had short, jet-black hair, which may have been a wig. He also had a black mustache.

The man was wearing a dark uniform with a badge but no name tag. He was also wearing a police officer's duty belt with a gun holster.

The man's car was described as a black Ford Crown Victoria. "Police" was written on the side of the car, with "911" on the rear quarter panel. There were red and blue lights inside on the dashboard. The car had black rims with chrome hubs.

Sheriff's officials say the description of the incident does not fit any traffic stops they made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Green Lake County Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-438-8436, by text-messaging GETTHEM to 847411 or by emailinggetthem@co.green-lake.wi.us .
