MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker refused Thursday to say why he withdrew his nomination of a student member to the UW Board of Regents.

Right Wisconsin.Com wrote Wednesday that 20-year-old Joshua Inglett of UW-Platteville signed the Walker recall petitions in late 2011.

Later in the day, Walker’s office withdrew Inglett’s nomination.

Walker refused Thursday to get into specifics. He told reporters, “We’ve got plenty of other good candidates,” and the governor said he did not want to drag Inglett through the details of his decision.

Inglett told the AP there are more important issues for the UW Regents to face than his nomination status. The governor said he would nominate a replacement soon.

Inglett was named Monday to a two-year term as one of two student representatives on the Board of Regents.

Former Lieutenant Governor Margaret Farrow and former state auditor Janice Mueller were also appointed by Walker to full seven-year terms on the university’s policy-setting board.

The Senate’s higher education panel was expected Thursday to confirm Farrow and Mueller. Inglett’s appointment was taken off the confirmation list.
