Buoyed by a strong weekend at home, the Milwaukee Brewers hit the road Monday night and packed their bats as they rolled the Miami Marlins 6-1 Monday night. The Brewers pounded out 16 hits and got a strong performance from Yovanni Gallardo in winning their fourth straight. Milwaukee scored twice in the first inning off Ricky Nolasco and extended the lead all night. Jonathan Lucroy went four for five with three runs batted in. Carlos Gomez was three for five with a triple and two runs knocked in and Rickie Weeks had three hits including a solo home run. Gallardo went 8 shutout innings, allowing only four hits and eclipsing the 1000 strikeout milestone for his career in the process. Milwaukee will send Wily Peralta to the mound in game two of the series Tuesday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:35 PM on WTAQ.
