ST. GERMAIN, WI (WSAU) -  A snowmobile trail groomer was the first to discover a crash near Content Lake Road in Vilas County Sunday. Sheriff’s investigators say the operator of a snowmobile was on Trail #6 when he lost control and struck a tree. The groomer operator from the Bo Boen Snowmobile Club called 9-1-1 at 10:23 p.m.

Officials don’t know yet how long the rider had been at the scene. The snowmobiler was taken to Howard Young Medical Center for treatment. The rider’s name and details of the injuries have not been released.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

St. Germain Fire and Rescue crews, the Plum Lake Ambulance, and another ambulance from Howard Young Medical Center assisted at the scene. Department of Natural Resources officials are assisting Vilas County with the investigation.
