The cast and crew of the stage show's adaptation descended on the tiny village of Ewelme in Oxfordshire, England to film scenes at St Mary the Virgin Church.
Hugh Jackman was among those who filmed at the church, and producers thanked locals by making a large donation to help with renovations.
The vicar in charge of the church, Reverend Jonathan Meyer, insists the shoot was a positive experience for the community: ""The spiritual message of the film brought everyone together.""
Children from the local Ewelme Primary School were all invited to look around the set and the school was also given a donation, along with the village's parish council.
It has also been revealed the film crew had to liaise with authorities at a nearby air force base, who agreed to change flying programs to avoid disrupting the shoot.
