OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - Fire crews in Oshkosh get called to a report of a truck plunging through the ice on Lake Winnebago overnight.

Authorities say it happened around 12 a.m. Wednesday at the end of Merritt Avenue in Oshkosh. It fell into an existing crack in the ice on Miller's Bay.

Winnebago County Sheriff's say the truck was empty and it appears the driver tried to pull the truck out of the water. Deputies say the driver abandoned the truck, and did not notify officials that the truck was in the water.

The sheriff's department is leaving the truck in the water, and it will be the owner's responsibility to get it out
