Milwaukee woman charged after public display of child abuse

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Milwaukee police have charged a 22 year old woman with throwing her toddler face-first onto a set of concrete steps, then walking away.

Jasmine S. Oliver faces two counts of physical abuse of a child, one of substantial battery with intent to cause bodily harm and child endangerment.

A neighbor says he saw her do it. As he rushed to help the infant, the woman reportedly walked up to police officers and said she couldn’t handle her baby any more and didn’t want it.

The child was taken to Children’s Hospital and treated for several injuries.

When a detective tried to interview Oliver, he said she was uncooperative and couldn’t understand how her actions rose to the level of a felony.
