A St. Norbert Sweep

The St. Norbert Green Knights Mens and Womens basketball teams defeated Ripon in a doubleheader at the Schuldes Sports Center Tuesday night.   The women overcame 28 turnovers but held Ripon to 24% shooting in a 46-31 victory.   Krista Hawkinson, in here final home game scored 13 points along with Morgan Heim.  The women clinched a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament with the victory.   St. Norbert is 15-7 overall and 12-5 in the MWC, all but locking up the number three seed in the four team tourney next week, hosted by Carroll College.  The St. Norbert men had to work uphill all night but prevailed 57-52.  The Knights found themselves down 15-2 in the first 8 minutes to a Ripon team fighting for their playoff lives.  Strong defense helped the Knights get back in the game and Paul Appleton's back to back three point shots put SNC on top for good in the second half.  Brandon Gries led the scoring with 14, Appleton and Izaiah Anderson each scored 12.  St. Norbert is 17-5, 14-3 in the conference and with one game to play, still has a shot at hosting the tournament.  They would need to win their final game at Illinois College Saturday and a loss by Grinnell to host.  Otherwise, they'll travel to Grinnell for the tournament.
