APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Three people had to be rescued overnight from an apartment fire in Appleton.

The call goes out just before 3 a.m. Saturday to 35 Woodmere Court.

Crews arriving to the scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the two story building.

Officials say the three people rescued had to be moved out through the windows. The Town of Menasha and Grand Chute fire departments helped knock down the flames quickly. According to officials, one resident was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and an Appleton firefighter suffered minor injuries.

No word on a cause or damage estimate. The Red Cross is helping those displaced by the blaze.
