(WNFL) - The Cleveland Indians have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with reliever John Axford.  Various media outlets said the contract will become official after the right-hander passes a physical. Axford opened the 2013 campaign as Milwaukee's closer, but was removed after six blown saves and was eventually dealt to St. Louis in August. He pitched to a 1.74 ERA for the Cardinals down the stretch and struck out five batters over 2 1/3 scoreless innings in two World Series appearances. After saving 81 games the previous two seasons, Axford didn't record a single save last season, but the Indians plan on having him open camp as the team's closer. The Indians also signed pitcher Shaun Marcum to a minor league contract.

The Colorado Rockies signed pitcher Boone Logan to a three-year contract on Monday. Logan was an integral part of the New York Yankees' bullpen the past three years, appearing in 205 games. Last season the 29-year-old southpaw went 5-2 with a 3.23 ERA and held left-handers to a .221 average in 77 at-bats. Over eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves and Yankees, Logan owns a 24-12 record with a 4.39 ERA in 420 games, all in relief.             The Kansas City Royals have signed infielder Omar Infante to a four-year contract. The deal, which is reportedly worth more than $30 million, includes a club option for 2018. Infante hit .318 with 24 doubles, 10 homers and 51 RBI in 118 games last season with the Detroit Tigers. In 1,209 career games with the Tigers (2002-07), Braves (2008-10), Marlins (2011-12) and Tigers (2012-13), Infante has a .279 batting mark with 207 doubles, 74 homers and 421 RBI. He was an All-Star with Atlanta in 2010.
