The Milwaukee Brewers have a surplus of outfielders and are in need of pitching and on Thursday, General Manager Doug Melvin shipped Nori Aoki to the Kansas City Royals for 24 year old lefthanded pitcher Will Smith. Aoki played two seasons with the Brewers and last summer, hit .286 with 40 infield hits, second most in the league. He's a veteran of the Japanese leagues and is now 32. The move will allow the Brewers to slide Ryan Braun to right field next year and give the left fielding job to up and coming prospect Khris Davis. Smith has been both a starter and reliever for the Royals, bouncing between the big league club and Triple A Omaha. He has a career record of 8-10 with a 4.76 ERA in two seasons. The Brewers starting rotation last year consisted of five, right handed pitchers.
