MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Milwaukee County officials may never know what started an electrical fire at the downtown courthouse in early July.
A County Board committee was told Wednesday that the damage was so severe to an electrical system in the basement, that it might be impossible to pinpoint the cause of the blaze.
County administrative services director Don Tyler told the panel that insurance investigators have not said anything about a possible cause -- and there's not much left to check out.
Earlier this week, we learned that the cost of cleanups and equipment replacements are at $10 million and counting.
The courthouse electrical system had not been upgraded in 1965. An inspection report in February outlined a need for substantial improvements.
