MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wisconsin Legislator is taking another attempt to make English the state’s official language.
The bill by State Representative Andre Jacque would require local and state governments to have their official documents in English, with a few exceptions. The Fox Valley Republican Jacque’s bill is almost exactly like the bill that died in committee back in 2009 after it was introduced by former Democratic Representative Marlin Schneider of Wisconsin Rapids.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald from Juneau signed onto Schneider's bill back in 2009. It’s unclear if he will sign onto Jacque’s new bill.
