FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) - Following the deaths of nine puppies, the Fond du Lac Humane Society is back open.
The puppies contracted the highly contagious canine parvovirus.
Officials with the shelter say 9 other puppies and one adult dog remain quarantined, but they are getting better. They've begun eating and drinking on their own again.
It's still unclear how the dogs got sick.
The shelter says a team from UW-Madison came in and tested the 40 dogs in the regular kennels for parvovirus and all of those dogs came back clear.
