NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - One woman is hospitalized after she was shot while working at a Neenah Wal-Mart.
Police officers were called to the store at 1155 W. Winneconne Avenue around 11:13 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a shot being fired in the liquor department.
When authorities arrived, they found the 56-year-old victim and attended to her. She was transported to Theda Clark Medical Center, where she is in critical but stable condition.
Meantime, Chief Kevin Wilkinson says officer learned the alleged shooter was still inside the store.
"So they identified the suspect, they were able to safely take her into custody and recover the handgun we believe fired the shot," says Wilkinson.
The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Justine Boyd of Greenville, who was also working at the time of the incident.
Wilkinson isn't sure at this point what Boyd's motive was.
"Nothing at all, we understand that these two knew each other, but the extent of that acquaintanceship I really don't know," says Wilkinson.
Boyd is jailed in Winnebago County on one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
Wilkinson says they're continuing the investigation by collecting statements, gathering evidence and evaluating video surveillance recordings.
More information is expected to be revealed at a press conference Thursday morning.
