The Milwaukee Bucks overcame a 5-1 deficit after four innings to beat the NL East Division leading Washington Nationals 6-5 at Miller Park Thursday night. Washington got to starter Matt Garza early in building the lead but the right hander made it through six innings, giving up all five runs on 8 hits. The offense slowly came to life cutting into the lead and the Brewers tied the game in the 7th on Gerrardo Parra’s solo home off Aaron Barrett. In the 8th, Scooter Gennett, just recalled from triple A, delivered a two out RBI single for the lead. Will Smith coming off his suspension got the win in relief with Francisco Rodriguez finishing up for his 13th save in as many chances. Milwaukee (23-38) will send Mike Fiers to the mound in game two of the series Friday night against Jordan Zimmerman, the Auburndale native and former UW Stevens Point star. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM on WTAQ.
