UNDATED (WSAU) - If you’re waiting for that perfect time to clean out your medicine cabinet, it’s here.
Saturday is Drug Take Back Day nationwide. Local organizers take your old, unneeded medications and dispose of them properly, with no questions asked.
The last Take Back day in September had Americans nationwide turning in 224 tons of prescription drugs, which kept them out of the hands of children, out of the hands of abusers, away from pets, and out of the wastewater treatment systems.
Every county has drop boxes available every day, but there are additional locations to drop off unwanted drugs during this event. You can find the closest site at their website by entering your zip code.
Officials encourage you to put the pills in zip-bags and recycle the plastic bottles. Creams and liquids can be left in the original containers. Needles, syringes and inhalers cannot be accepted.
