MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) - Menasha police say the driver of a vehicle that crashed during what was believed to be a street race has come forward.

Authorities say it happened on Water Street just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say two vehicles were racing, when one of the vehicles struck a light pole and a dumpster.

The other vehicle kept driving.

When officers arrived at the crash scene, neither the driver nor anyone else was around.  A Menasha police shift commander says a man came forward Thursday claiming to be the driver.

Police are not identifying the driver at this time.

With the amount of damage to the car, police believed someone may have been injured in the crash, but the driver was not.
