It was fun while it lasted but all good things come to an end. The Milwaukee Brewers nine game winning streak by the Padres in San Diego 2-1 Wednesday night. Edinson Volquez, who entered the game 0-3 with an ERA just under 9, held the Brewers scoreless on five hits through seven innings. Marco Estrada nearly matched him but took the loss after giving up a long home run to Carlos Quentin on a hanging curveball. The Padres carried a 2-0 lead into the ninth with closer Houston Street on the mound. Back to back doubles by Carlos Gomez and Yuniesky Betancourt got the Brewers on the board but the game ended when Martin Maldanado was called out for batter interference when he ran into his own chopped ball. The Brewers (11-9) will enjoy a day off in southern California before opening a weekend series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night.
