LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) - A Minnesota man has failed to get out of a life prison sentence for a murder outside a La Crosse night club a decade ago.
A state appeals court Thursday upheld Michael Alexander’s conviction, and rejected his request for a new sentencing hearing.
Alexander, who turns 31 next month, is from Winona Minnesota. He was convicted of shooting Therrick Roberts to death and wounding two other men outside the Club Millenium in downtown La Crosse in 2003.
Alexander claimed that the transcript from his original trial was flawed, his lawyer was not effective, and his rights were violated by letting his attorney introduce statements from two witnesses.
A La Crosse County circuit judge had rejected Alexander’s request for a new sentence, and the appellate court upheld that ruling.
