COLOMA, WI (WSAU) - A proposed large scale dairy farm west of Coloma has the Department of Natural Resources permission to drill a high capacity well. That decision has many neighbors criticizing the DNR.
The proposed farm by Milk Source Holdings would be in the Adams County Town of Richfield, and manage about 4,300 dairy cattle.
Many residents want the DNR to deny the permit saying it would hurt area lake levels. The DNR says statutes limit their ability to use cumulative impact of wells on nearby waterways in their decision process.
Milk Source Holdings sites computer models showing the effects on area waterways would be minimal.
