LAKE ERIE, MI (WTAQ) - WI Scientists say DNA from the invasive Asian carp has been found in another portion of the Great Lakes.
Natural resource officials in Michigan and Ohio said Tuesday that three water samples from Maumee Bay in Lake Erie contained DNA from the bloated fish.
Similar DNA from Asian carp has been found close to Lake Michigan near Chicago – but only one actual carp has been spotted there, and none have been seen in Lake Erie.
The Erie samples were among 350 collected by government scientists since July. It was reported earlier that 20 samples from Sandusky Bay in Lake Erie tested positive for the silver carp’s DNA.
