GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Green Bay teenager charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in July will stand trial.
17-year-old Felix Ruiz waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday.
Ruiz was driving with his girlfriend on July 8 when he struck 52-year-old Daryl Wayka, according to the criminal complaint.
His girlfriend allegedly told investigators they were having an argument at the time. After the crash, she told police they were scared and unsure of what to do.
Investigators say a few days later, Ruiz's brother drove him to Milwaukee so that he could take a bus to Mexico. Ruiz then returned to the Green Bay area in August, but didn't turn himself in. He was eventually found hiding in a closet at a friend's house in Howard.
Ruiz faces charges of hit-and-run causing death.
