The offense finally broke loose for the Milwaukee Brewers as they opened a four game series against the Miami Marlins with a 12-3 victory at Miller Park Thursday night.
The Brewers scored the final 10 runs of the game after falling behind early thanks to former Brewer Lewis Brinson. The one-time top prospect of Milwaukee, traded to Miami in the Christian Yelich deal, homered twice against Chase Anderson driving in all three runs for the visitors.
Anderson would work into the sixth to earn the victory (2-1) and got some long ball help of his own.
Lorenzo Cain’s liner that glanced off the top of the wall tied the game at 3 and opened the floodgates. Orlando Arcia also went deep and Ryan Braun smacked a pinch hit, three run homer that pushed him to a milestone. Braun reached 1000 RBI’s for his Brewer career with the blast.
Jesus Aguillar was also productive at the plate going three for five with three runs driven in.
The Brewers have won three straight to reach 11-9 on the season. They’ll send Jhoulys Chacin to the mound in game two of the series against Clayton Richard Friday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM on WTAQ.
