MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - A 10-year-old boy remains in critical condition following a weekend fatal ATV crash in Marinette County.
The Sunday morning accident in Middle Inlet claimed the life of 10-year-old Calvin Bauer.
Authorities say Bauer was at the wheel, when the ATV slammed into a pickup truck after failing to stop at a stop sign. Bauer died at the scene.
His passenger, Christopher Gorman, remains at a Green Bay hospital.
Both boys were middle school students in Crivitz.
Neither person in the truck was injured.
According to the DNR's website, a child needs to be 12 years old, and have an ATV education certificate to drive on public land. There is a small ATV exception for those under 12.
But roadway use is not allowed, even to cross a road. The child is also supposed to be accompanied by a parent.
