UNDATED, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s two U.S. Senate candidates are continuing to spar over the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Former Governor Tommy Thompson has launched new ads accusing House Democrat Tammy Baldwin of voting against budget bills that included money to supply U.S. troops with body armor.
John Kraus of the Baldwin camp called the ad a lie – and he pointed to a number of Baldwin votes in which she supported body armor for troops.
The new development comes a week after Thompson accused Baldwin of voting against a resolution in 2006 to honor victims of the 9/11 attacks.
Baldwin said she voted nine other times to support such a measure – but she said she couldn’t vote for the 2006 measure because it called for support of GOP measures like the Patriot Act.
Baldwin and Thompson are in an extremely close race with eight days to go before Election Day.
