KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) - A 27-year-old Denmark man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after leading the State Patrol on a high speed chase in the stolen Cadillac Deville. 

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. along southbound U.S. Highway 41 near County Highway J near Kaukauna. 

The crash closed both southbound lanes for several hours forcing traffic to take a detour. 

Troopers initiated a stop traffic stop, but the suspect, Joseph Schuman, led authorities in a chase for about five miles reaching speeds of 100 mph before crashing. 

A pair of troopers had to perform CPR until medical personnel arrived and brought him to Theda Clark Medical Center. 

The State Patrol says the investigation is pending and that Schuman was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.
