GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Helping victims of domestic violence, that's the goal of both the Green Bay Packers and Verizon Wireless.

It's part of the awareness campaign, "Protection is the Name of the Game," which is an extension of Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program.

The campaign includes a season-long phone drive at the Verizon Wireless Gate and inside the Atrium at Lambeau Field.

There will also be a stadium-wide phone drive at the December 23 Packers-Titans game, financial donations to domestic violence organizations in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula and a public service announcement featuring Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.

"Domestic violence is one of those wide-spreading epidemics that we want to eliminate, because victims are always effected by it," says Jennings. "Obviously it's not something that's going to happen overnight, but every little bit helps and that's why we want to shine a light on this initiative."

Two of those area groups that will benefit is Golden House the House of Hope in Green Bay.

Golden House provides a wide range of support programs and shelter for victims of domestic violence.

According to their web site, Golden House is a non-profit organization offering services to individuals of ALL ages, sexes, races, sexual orientation, and gender expression, including: individual counseling, temporary shelter, 24-Hour helpline, legal assistance (restraining and harassment order filing assistance), support groups, transitional housing options, prevention education and more.

House of Hope offers a safe, supportive place where young mothers learn to become competent adults and independent, successful parents.
