Expansion, new jobs at Kaukauna's Mid Valley Industries

KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) - Mid Valley Industries in Kaukauna plans to add dozens of new jobs as part of it's new expansion.

The company says it plans to add up to 80 new jobs by 2014, after a ribbon cutting on their new 27,000 square foot expansion Friday.

It's an ambitious $5 million expansion project for CEO Kevin Schmid, who says the company is creating more than just new jobs, it's creating careers.

"I feel so strongly with the family here, the employees, that this is an easy gamble to make," Schmid tells FOX 11.

Schmid says the company plans to hire up to 40 machinists and another 40 office and management personnel over the next year. And the job growth is coming in more than just entry level positions, these manufacturing jobs at Mid Valley Industries require highly specialized workers.

The new jobs range in pay from $16-$30 an hour. Jobs Governor Scott Walker says are key to helping the economy grow.

"Businesses like this have the confidence to invest because they see their customer base growing, they see their workforce being highly skilled and it's one where that bodes well for Wisconsin," said Walker.

Schmid says the company has immediate openings for 20 to 30 new machinist positions with the rest coming next year.
