GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Twelve Associated Bank branches are closing in Wisconsin and Illinois.
That includes locations in Ledgeview, Appleton, Oshkosh and Manitowoc.
Associated Banc-Corp. says it's unclear how many positions will be affected, but the company is working to transition affected employees to other positions.
The Green Bay-based bank says branch traffic has declined as more customers are banking online and using ATMs.
Associated has posted seven straight quarters of profitability and says the move positions the company for continued future growth.
"Our company's unwavering goal is to provide consistent, reliable value to both customers and shareholders. In order to best balance these needs, we regularly evaluate our operations to ensure we are delivering the service, convenience and value they expect," said David Stein, executive vice president of retail banking in a release.
The company says the impacted branches are approximately a two mile drive from another Associated location.
The impacted locations will close early in the first quarter of next year.
