VP Joe Biden makes campaign stop in La Crosse Friday

LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) - Vice President Joe Biden sounded familiar themes Friday afternoon when he and his wife Jill appeared at UW-La Crosse.

They were about 45 minutes late, but it did not seem to temper the enthusiasm of the crowd at the Cartwright Center on campus.

About 2,000 people filled the hall, with an overflow crowd of around 300. He told how the middle class lost trillions of dollars in home equity and retirement funds during the shaky economy – and he said it happened while wealthy people had not paid their share of taxes.

Biden also pointed out Republican cuts in education to the students in the audience. And he repeated that there are sharp differences between the Republican Romney-Ryan proposals, and what President Obama and Biden would do if they were re-elected.

Biden’s appearance was the first since his debate Thursday night with Wisconsin’s Paul Ryan – and it was the third time the vice president had visited Wisconsin since Labor Day.

Ryan is due back in the Badger State on Sunday to help raise money for Senate candidate Tommy Thompson. He also has a Monday morning rally planned at Carroll University in Waukesha.
