HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) - Howard-Suamico school bus drivers are wrapping up a three-day bus simulator training session.
Nearly 70 drivers are learning to deal with a blown tire, brake failure, winter driving conditions, or an inattentive driver who might cross the centerline. Lamars Bus Terminal Manager Todd Gauthier says it gives them the opportunity to experience incidents in a controlled environment and it will give them the knowledge on how to handle it better. Gauthier says they grade the drivers a little bit and if they need more time, he'll put them back in for longer. One driver thought there could have been a local feature in the simulator; roundabouts.
Howard-Suamico bus drivers transport around 5,000 kids a day.
