MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - President Obama’s campaign has run more than twice as many TV ads as Republican Mitt Romney in nine battleground states.

One of those states is Wisconsin – and it’s the only one where Romney has taken out more ads than the Democratic president.

The AC Nielsen Company said Friday that Romney’s campaign had run 1,952 ads on Wisconsin TV stations from the start of the year through early September. That’s just over 600 more ads than Obama.

Republicans are making a strong effort to carry Wisconsin – where Democrats have won every presidential contest since 1988.

Wisconsin is also the home to Romney’s running mate, Janesville Congressman Paul Ryan.

Nielsen said the Obama campaign has run 230,000 TV ads in the nine battleground states of Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Wisconsin – while the Romney camp has only run 87,000 ads in those places.

This week’s Marquette poll showed Obama ahead in Wisconsin by 11 points.
