SPARTA, Wis (WSAU) It was a "test" that failed.

A 27-year-old man wanted to test his pick-up truck's four-wheel drive, so he drove into Perch Lake in Sparta. Apparently the water was deeper than he expected, and the truck became partially submerged.

Sparta police gave the driver a citation, and he pad to pay a towing company to remove his vehicle.

The police department posted some of the pictures on their Facebook page. The driver's name has not been made public.
