The Milwaukee Brewers put on a great rush to get into playoff contention in September but on the final day of the month, they went down meekly to the Houston Astros and were eliminated from the Wild Card race. The Astros got a complete game, four hitter from Jordan Lyles in beating the Brewers 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Miller Park. The Brewers could only muster four singles off Lyles who helped himself by hitting one of four solo home runs for Houston. Fernando Martinez, Jed Lowrie and Matt Dominguez also went deep against Mike Fiers who fell to 9-10, working six innings, giving up five runs on six hits. Milwaukee (81-78) wraps up the regular season by hosting the San Diego Padres for three games. Shaun Marcum will pitch the series opener Monday night.
