MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The flu season is off to an earlier start in Wisconsin, with dozens more cases being reported than a year ago.

State health officials report 113 lab-confirmed flu cases this fall – up from 7 at this time a year ago. But the flu season runs through early spring, and it normally peaks in January and February.

State health officer Henry Anderson says it’s not too late to get vaccinated. Next week is National Influenza Vaccination Week.

Anderson says everyone is being urged to take the advice of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and get a flu shot. Folks are also being urged to tell their friends and relatives to get vaccinated as well.
