Virginia defeated Wisconsin 60-54 at the Kohl Center Wednesday night as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Cavaliers are coached by former Preble High School and UW Green Bay star Tony Bennett who returned to the city where his coaching career began. He assisted his father Dick during his tenure with the Badgers which included the memorable run to the final four. Bennett also spent a couple of seasons on the staff of current Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan. Bennett's Cavaliers defended the Badgers strong all night, holding Wisconsin to 38 percent shooting from the floor. Wisconsin made only 8 of 22 from three point range. A couple of three's early in the second half by Ben Brust, who finished with a team high 15 points, pushed Wisconsin in front 36-31 but Virginia quickly regained control. The Badgers drop to 4-3 on the season and as for Bennett, his next game will be back in Charlottesville against his alma mater, the Phoenix on Saturday.
