The Green Bay Phoenix women suffered their first loss of the season in the opening game of the Cancun Challenge in Mexico, losing to James Madison 89-86 in overtime on Thanksgiving Day. Green Bay led by three in the closing seconds of regulation when Tarik Hislop nailed a three point shot with 2.3 seconds to play. Hislop finished with a game high 32 points. In the overtime, Kirby Birkholder made another huge three with 20.3 remaining. Stephanie Sension had a chance for the lead but missed an inside shot and James Madison made two free throws to seal the victory. Adrian Ritchie matched her career high with 26 points to lead Green Bay. Sension recorded career highs in both points and rebounds with a 19 point, 10 rebound double-double. Sarah Eichler added 16 for Green Bay (2-1) which will face Missouri in Cancun on Friday afternoon.
