MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The Ohio State Buckeyes scored on a short run in overtime to edge the Wisconsin Badgers 21-14 Saturday.
The win gives Ohio State the Leaders Division championship, but Wisconsin will be making the trip to the Big Ten Championship game. The Buckeyes are ineligible, despite their undefeated 7-0 conference record in an 11-0 season.
Montee Ball tied a major college touchdown record with a 7-yard scoring run in the second period. He almost became the all-time TD leader with 2:46 left in the game, but he had the ball batted away from him.
The Badger defense held tough and third-string quarterback Curt Phillips led his team to a tying score on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 8 seconds left.
Then, in overtime, Buckeye running back Carlos Hyde found the end zone from the 2 to give the number 6 ranked visitors the win.
Ball will have three games left to break the touchdown record. He carried the ball 39 times yesterday for 191 yards.
