Ben Affleck faced casting crisis during Argo shoot

From WENN.com

The actor stepped behind the camera to direct the film, which chronicles the heroic CIA rescue mission to free six Americans holed up in Iran and smuggle them out of the country during the nation's 1979 revolution.

Much of the filming took place in Turkey, and Affleck admits his hunt for locals to feature in busy crowd scenes didn't go to plan.

He tells Britain's Daily Mirror, ""It was much bigger than anything I've ever done and I needed thousands of extras because I didn't want to use digital people. But it turned out that the pay wasn't enough to get them in and the only people who came to be extras were senior citizens who wanted a voucher for lunch.

""This was supposed to be a student revolution, but some 2,000 70 year olds turned up so I couldn't shoot them up close! We had some problems.""
