TOWN OF LAKE MILLS, WI (WTAQ) - High winds and limited access to the area helped a wildfire burn more than 250 acres at the Lake Mills State Wildlife Area overnight.
The flames were reported just before 10 p.m. last night.
Personnel and equipment from more than 40 departments responded.
The cause is undetermined, but authorities think it might have been started by a discarded cigarette.
The didn’t damage any of the four homes in the area and no injuries were reported.
The 3,300 acre Lake Mills Wildlife Area consists of open-water marsh, areas of wet prairie and a heavily-wooded area.
