DNR proposes eliminating rules that they say hamper small business

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - State DNR staffers are recommending that one state law and 28 administrative rules be repealed, to ease the bureaucratic burdens on small businesses.

The proposals were made after Governor Scott Walker told agencies last February to review their rules that might have an adverse impact on small businesses.

The DNR says it wants to repeal rules which are no longer needed because they’re included in federal standards – or because they’re outdated or inaccurate by today’s standards.

The DNR’s suggestions include the elimination of rules concerning captive wildlife management, pesticide use, old water quality standards, and grants for programs that either expired or were transferred to other state agencies.

The DNR will issue final proposals next month, after a public comment period that expires December fifth. Comments can be made, and other information is available, on the DNR’s Web site accessible at Wisconsin.gov.
