APPLETON, WI (WSAU) - The man found guilty of killing his mother for her life insurance money will spend the rest of his life in prison. 35-year-old Randal Rosenthal of Brillion was convicted Friday evening at the conclusion of a five-day jury trial in Outagamie County. His mother, 52-year-old Kathleen Remter, was found dead in the Fox River in July of 2011. She had been shot in the back of the head.
Prosecutors claimed Rosenthal was unemployed and expecting a second child soon. They say he tried to collect $586,000 through his mother’s life insurance where he was the beneficiary.
