GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Green Bay man changing a flat tire loses control of the car where it smashed into two apartment buildings. It happened around 3 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of Moraine Terrace on Green Bay Westside. Mike Martin, who says he is a mechanic, just finished fixing a flat on his brother’s car. With the door open, he threw the car into reverse, but says he got thrown out went in traveled backwards, where it rear-ended into an apartment. “After being in that predicament, I put it in drive trying to fix to see what was going on, I pushed the brake down as hard as I could, just thinking like if I push the brakes down the car has to stop.” Martain said. Police say Martin panicked and instead was pressing the gas pedal and rammed into a brick façade into his own building. The buildings are about less than 50 feet apart, with a parking lot between them. WTAQ talked with Martin who says he has an A++ driving record, but says he was ticketed for no driver’s license. The structural damage to both buildings forced several residents to find a different place to stay.
