The octogenarian will take on the magic role at the London Palladium from 22 May (12). The show will mark his debut in a stage musical.

O'Connor was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008 for his services to Entertainment and Broadcasting and is regarded as one of Britain's best-loved TV veterans.
