Advocacy group wants Milwaukee police to return Good Samaritan's gun

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - An advocacy group wants Milwaukee Police to give Nazir Al-Mujaahid his gun back.

He’s the grocery shopper who pulled out his concealed weapon on January 30th and foiled a robbery attempt by 2 men at a Milwaukee Aldi’s store.

Prosecutors cleared Al-Mujaahid of wrongdoing. And the group Wisconsin Carry Incorporated now wants Milwaukee Police to return the man’s gun and holster.

But police say they still need the weapon to use as evidence in the pending court cases of the two alleged robbers.

The Journal Sentinel says hundreds of people a year must go to court to get their weapons back – and Al-Mujaahid has had to do it twice in the past.

He’s currently appealing a third refusal to return a weapon. Wisconsin Carry accuses Milwaukee Police of, “concocting baseless reasons to seize any and all guns they come across,” even those never used in crimes.
