MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - District Attorney Christian Gossett won’t be allowed to carry a concealed weapon inside the courtrooms in Winnebago County.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court refused to order the judges in that county to allow him to carry his gun. Failing that, he wanted the state’s high court to take up his case as an original action.
On Friday, the court said it wouldn’t meet either request.
Winnebago County judges had told Gossett nobody but law enforcement officers can carry in their courts without a written permission.
The DA says that ban conflicts with parts of the state’s concealed carry law which does allow prosecutors to carry weapons if they have a permit.
